Creativity Sessions: Unexpected Gifts

I participated in Mercy Rome's Creativity Session for Creativity & Right Livelihood this morning. It was the fourth one I have had the honor of engaging in counting my own, and in each I have learned something valuable. Today was especially compelling since Mercy's topic was one I grapple with directly: "In what ways might I use my strengths to engage in fulfilling work?"

As the diverse group of people approached her question with their most honest and compassionate responses, it was inevitable that I would reflect on my own version of that question and those answers. I ended up with two working lists that I will continue to refine, in the hopes that clearly seeing those two poles will guide me in the right direction. List titles courtesy of Mercy.

What Shatters Me?
lack of integrity
incompletion
rigid structure
negative energy
lack of freedom
repetitive tasks
isolation

On What Do I Thrive?
creative collaboration
building/creating
community
integrity
freedom/fluidity
contribution
beauty, love
problem solving
art meets intellect
completion
positive energy
working with people who inspire me

  1. Through creative collaboration I am building and creating a new sense of self. The community of BGI has birthed an integrity of creation, a new configuration of my own DNA. Freedom is intangible yet real like the fluidity of the transition of a thunderstorm into pummeling rain. Contribution to the world creates beauty and love enhancing the ethnosphere of humanity. Problem solving = art meets intellect. Completion united in the positive energy of working with people who inspire me. I love you. Knowing you helps me thrive. Namaste Bonnie.

  2. I love that #1 on your first list is "lack of integrity"...that is #1 on mine, too. My 3 core values from Channel Rock were Joy, Challenge, and Integrity. I'm still considering getting them on a copper bracelet to replace my "Simplicity Clarity Balance" one...
